Emmy Urquhart |
Level 1 SLS Instructor |
|
Emmy grew up in a musical family playing piano and flute, and singing in choirs. After taking some time to travel and attain a degree from the University of Edinburgh, she rekindled her love for singing and enrolled on the BMus (Jazz) Trinity College of Music. She has been performing in duos, trios, quartets and quintets throughout the UK ever since. Emmy was drawn to SLS after hearing the results it had produced in a friend. She was amazed how significantly a voice could change and how balanced and powerful it could become in a relatively short period of SLS training. Since then, she has studied with some of the highest-level SLS instructors in the UK and USA. When teaching, Emmy greatly values each student’s individual style, which SLS technique only serves to enhance. Students are encouraged to explore a wide range of repertoire and currently her students’ song choices range from jazz/blues to r’n’b/soul/gospel to pop/rock/folk to musical theatre. She encourages students to perform whenever they can and takes a keen interest in their all-round musical progress. |
