Class size: 10 - 13 singers
[more]
Aim: In 'Part A' we will encounter the barriers that may be hindering or weakening your voice, and begin the process of overcoming them. You will quickly understand the basics of good vocal function, and lay a solid foundation for your future enjoyment of singing.
  • 6 two-hour sessions
  • no-nonsense approach to achieving real vocal development
  • Your voice clearly explained: Structured sessions build a clear path to knowledge, understanding and vocal ability in a 6 week package.
  • Each session starts with vocal development work and goes on to apply techniques in practical singing.
  • Technical vocal work uses effective SLS development exercises.
  • Designed and run by Voxbox directors Leon & Lucy, both Level 2 SLS instructors
  • Proven course now in it's 5th year
Part B Course
Class size: 5 - 7 singers

You can do just Part A: it will give you the basics to be going on with, but we do recommend that you carry on to the end of Part B in order to work through all the issues at foundation level.

  • Smaller class size.
  • The focus is very firmly on you as an individual singer.
  • You will be doing more of the exercises on your own, and each getting as much individual voice work as time will allow.
  • This will build your understanding of your voice and firm up your foundation vocal technique.
  • You will also be working on your singing skills, developing a song project for presentation at the end. [more]

All course sessions start 7pm

You will start to realise the power of the techniques we use in the course, and see the changes reflected in your voice and the voices of the others around you. This is generally a time of great excitement and rising expectations as students realise that real progress can be made and that even more persistent vocal difficulties can be understood and smoothed away. Lots of "wow I didn't think I could do that!"

The courses are not only a great way to develop vocal technique, they also work so well to overcome the barrier all students face: singing in front of others. By the end of Part B you will be if not nonchalant, at least developing confidence to sing in front of fellow students. From there it is a short step to singing in front of the whole school and friends at one of ou
